Converting Images into Text Files

On the Macs, it is possible to convert a scanned image of a text document and turn it into an editable text file. It requires the use of Epson Scan to capture the image, and ABBY FineReader to convert the image. Both programs have easy interfaces and the whole process can be completed in only a few steps:

1. Open Epson Scan using the spotlight tool.




2. After choosing your options, click the Scan button and save your document (The desktop is most convenient).



3. Now, open up ABBY FineReader using the spotlight tool.




4. When the program loads, click the Open and Read button, and select your new image document when prompted.



5. Finally, once FineReader is finished, simply save the new text document onto the computer.

There you have it! Now you can convert all of your handouts into editable text documents!
