To ensure Quicktime files are exported from Final Cut Pro correctly do the following
1) Click File > Export > Quicktime Movie...
2) A Save dialog box appears. Change the Setting to DV NTSC 48 kHz.
3) Uncheck Make Movie Self-Contained. Then click Save.
3) Now your content should burn correctly when importing to iDVD.
